Candusso - I ALASSIO - (SV) 2003 Pileus 20-53 mm broad, 12-18 mm high, obtusely conical, then conico-convex with obtuse umbo at first, strongly hygrophanous, when moist at centre dark reddish brown (K. & W. 7E8), to the margin slightly greyish brown, weakly translucent-striate up to halfway the radius, on drying becoming pale ochraceous orange (K. & W. 5B3/4), slightly wrinkledrugulose at centre. Veil distinct, forming a narrow (1-3 mm) white zone at margin of pileus, gradually disappearing with age. Lamellac, L = 26-34, | =3-7, crowded, adnate, ascending, up to 6 mm broad, dark greyish brown with purplish tone (715, 8F5), with white fimbriate edge, not red underlined. Stipe55-90 x 3-6 mm, subcylindrical or slightly thicker towards base, fistulose, white to cream-colour, without remains of veil, apex slightly pruinose. Context concolorous with surface. Smell and taste weak, not distinctive. Spore print not recorded. Spores 6.5-8.5 x 4.0-5.0 jum, on the average 7.5 x 4.4 um, Q = 1.6-1.8(-1.9), Qav. = 1.7, not flattened, ellipsoid-oblong to phaseoliform in sideview,dark red-brown (Mu. 7.5 R 3/4) in ammonia, not opaque, with large, apical pore, 1.5-2.0 jum wide. Basidia 22-28 x 7.5-8.5 um, 4-spored, Lamella edge sterile, made up of numerous spheropedunculate and clavate cells, 14-28 x 6.5-11 jum, some slightly thick-walled and pale brown, intermixed with scattered utriform pleurocystidioid cheilocystidia, 21-27 x 7.5-11 jm. Pleurocystidia numerous, 28-48 x 9.5-15 jum, utriform to sublageniform, with short, cylindrical, obtuse neck, 5.5-7.5 um broad, often slightly constricted below apex and subcapitate, sometimes with mucoid substance at apex. Hymenophoral trama made up of hyphae 5.0-14 um broad, with hyaline to pale yellow wall. Pilcipellis an epithelioid hymeniderm, made up of clavate and subglobose cells, 16-48 x 10-36 ttm. Stipitipellis a cutis, made up of parallel, hyaline hyphae, 2.0-6.0 jum broad, with clusters of caulocystidia. Caulocystidia 22-38 x 6.5-13 um, more varied than pleurocystidia, clavate, utriform and lageniform with thick neck, 3.5-5.0 jum broad, swollen at apex to34 6.0-8.0 um, intermixed with clavate to subglobose elements, 13-17 x 8.5-14 um.
