Fruitbody resupinate, generally small (a few cm' ), smoth, easily detached from the substrate; hymenium bright rose red. Hyphal system and hyphae agree with E. laetum but the hyphae are somewhat narrower, the widest ones less than 10 µm in diam. Basidia as in E. laetum but somewhat smaller, 30-40 x 7-10 µm. Spores as in E. laetum but somewhat smaller, 9-11 x 4,5-6 µm. Habitat and distribution. In coniferous forests (Hylocomium-Myrtillus-Pinus-Picea forest) on undersides of mosses (mainly Hylocomium splendens), on small twigs and other kinds of small debris. It was noticed several times in the neighbourhood of Uppsala by Eriksson in 1950 when he studied the Corticiaceae growing on mosses. It is probably locally not rare but easily overlooked.
