Macroscopic features
Pileus 10-25 (30) mm across, campanulate when young, later convex to expanded, with an obtuse umbo, surface smooth, dull, hygrophanous, dark red-brown and translucent-striate to the center when moist, cream-beige and non-striate when dry, margin acute. Flesh cream-colored to brownish, thin, odor faintly polyporoid, taste mild, pleasant, aromatic. Lamellae cream-colored when young, later rust-yellow to rust-brown, broad, L = 26-30, | = 3, narrowly adnate with a small decurrent tooth, edges slightly crenate: Stipe 50-80 x 1-2 mm, cylindrical, base with a small bulb, stiff, elastic, solid to hollow, surface smooth, dull to satiny, whitish when young, later pale ocher with a yellowish tinge, eventually with a dark brown basal part and paler upper third, whole length covered with fine white powder.
Microscopic features
A: Spores elliptical to amygdaliform, smooth, barely thick-walled, pale redbrown, with a small, sometimes barely visible germ pore, 8.4-10 x 4.2-5.6 um: Q: 1,7-2.1; um; 147; spp. rust-brown.
B: Basidia clavate to almost cylindrical, 18-22 x 7-8,5 um, with 4 sterigmata, only very few with a basal clamp. NH -reaction negative.
C: Cheilocystidia lecythiform, 18-28 x 10-12 um, head 5-7.5 um across; pleurocystidia not seen.
D: Pp hymeniform, composed of clavate cells 16-28 x 8-18 um, with occasional interspersed capitate pileocystidia, occasional septa with clamps.
E: Caulocystidia lecythiform only.
