Descripción original
Description: Pileus (2) 5-9 (15) mm broad, conical-convex to convex-applanate, with conical or
blunt papilla at centre, then sometimes with a small papilla in a small depression, with inflexed obtuse margin, slightly irregular when old, fragile, hygrophanous, translucently striate, white, then sordid white, dry, glabrous to the naked eye, but distinctly pubescent under lens. Lamellae moderately crowded to fairly distant, L. = 6-12, 1 = 0-3, well-developed, reaching the margin of the pileus, never vein-like, arcuate-adnate to arcuate-decurrent, (rarely with collybioid habit of almost free to shortly adnexed lamellae), narrow, sometimes forked, sometimes undulate, white, with concolorous, entire edge, Stipe 5-25 x 0.2-1 mm, eylindrical, straight, solid then fistulous, never with bulbousbase, white then tinged pale brown or yellow brown near base, entirely fincly pubescent, towards base with strigose hairs. Context very thin, white. [Macroscopic description based on JoSSERAND (1937, incl. unpublished notes), and ORTON (1960)] Spores (7.5) 8.0 11.5 (12) x 2.5-3.5 jum, E = 2.7-4.4, Q= 3.3-3.7, narrowly cylindrical to fusiform, ofien with parallel sides, almost bacilliform, but attenuated towards apiculus, usually appearing in tetrads in microscopical preparations of exsiceates, Basidia 17-25 x 6,0-8.0 (9.0) tum, 4-spored, clavate. Basidioles 12. 27 x 3.0—-8.0 jum, cylindrical, clavate. Hymenial eystidia usually not found: sometimes a few very scattered cystidia similar to pilcocystidia found along edge of lamellae. Hymenophoral trama made up of cylindrical, ellipsoid, fusiform to inflated, thin-walled, 3.0—30 jim wide clements, Pileipellis a cutis made up of radially arranged, cylindrical, thin- to slightly thick-walled, up to 10 um wide hyphae. Pileoeystidia 35-91 x 4.5—8.0 (10,0) tum, awl-shaped, usually distinctly tapering towards acute apex, more rarely more or less cylindrical, often setiform with slightly thickened walls, at least in basal part, sometimes with a few digilate appendages at base. Stipitipellis a cutis of parallel, cylindrical, slightly thick-walled, up to 5 jum wide hyphae with pale yellow walls in KOH; with scattered projections or +t erect terminal cells, Caulocystidia (16) 25-78 x 3.5-8.0 (10.0) jum, setiform, awl-shaped, usually gradually tapering towards an acute, rarely obtuse apex, often irregularly shaped, with hyaline, slightly thickened walls. Clamp-connections present in all tissues. Chemical reactions: Neither spores nor tissues amyloid or dextrinoid. Ecology: Saprotrophic, single or in small groups, on leaves, on cupulae or on small twigs of Fagus
and Quercus, found also on remnants of herbaceous plants, in various vegetation types.
